SOUTHEAST FROM SPIRAL JETTY – UPON ROZEL POINT, UTAH
ƒ/0 (f-stop zero) is an aperture that exists only when the camera's mirror is completely exposed to the light of the world. An f-stop of zero is unmediated exposure. I use this as paradoxical idea of un-mediation as a metaphysical challenge that I work through with my photography. This prompt is traceable in my work as I continue to push materializations of the photograph away from tradition and research the affective, queer potential of ecological thought.
I am currently conducting research as a Master's of Fine Art candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. My thesis project, the secret of rocks, constructs and formats my work within, a genealogy of American landscape photography.
